5 Places You Can Enjoy Afternoon Tea on Oʻahu

Dearest Readers, we have some news for you: We’ve found five scrumptious places you can visit to sip on delightful teas and dine on delectable scones, pastries and sandwiches—all while dishing on the latest season of Netflix’s popular show “Bridgerton.”

At a typical afternoon tea service, one can find a selection of finger sandwiches—such as cucumber and cream cheese, smoked salmon or ham and mustard—scones with clotted cream and jam, and desserts, like cakes and pastries. (It differs from high tea, which has more substantial entrées.)

Bring your friends, family or fellow book club members to the Veranda at the Moana Surfrider to sip and swap stories over a Victorian-inspired afternoon tea. There’s tea sets fit for royalty, from the Moana Classic Tea ($55)—which has finger sandwiches, sweet offerings, scones and tropical sorbet—to the First Lady Tea ($75) that has a glass of sparkling rosé, berries and yogurt and a souvenir fan, in addition to what the classic one has to offer; and so much more.

Tea service is held on Saturdays and Sundays, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m., with reservations made on Open Table. Enjoy a classic—and classy—afternoon tea at The Kāhala Hotel & Resort. The menu features savory sandwiches, such as Hawaiʻi smoked fish baguette and deviled egg sandwich, radishes and caviar on rye bread, and sweet treats, including scones, chocolate éclair and green tea mille crepe. The exclusive tea selection is extensive—with an array of white, green, black and herbal teas—and made of high-quality, organic ingredients.

The tea service, priced at $65 per person (plus service charge and tax), has been so popular that an additional day was added on. Patrons can now enjoy afternoon tea on Fridays and Saturdays from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Reservations are made on Open Table.

Since 1999, Tea at 1024 has been serving fresh cups of tea in Honolulu. Located in the recently renovated, iconic Halekūlani hotel, Orchids is its elegant restaurant offering breakfast, lunch and dinner with an ocean view. While its time-honored tradition of afternoon tea service was put on pause, it has plans to start again later this year. Stay tuned!
