Hotel Wailea is one of the few options for those looking for an adults-only Hawai‘i honeymoon experience. Stretched over a 15-acre property, it can feel like you’re all alone in this gorgeous Wailea oasis. Of course, when you’re ready for mingling with other adults Hotel Wailea offers a fun pool experience, one of the most gorgeous bars on Maui—Bird Cage Bar—and specialty dining options that include dinner in a treehouse. The hotel offers expansive views of the Pacific from a vantage point a little further back from the beachside hotels (don’t worry, they offer a shuttle service down to the beach). All suite accommodations include a bedroom, full kitchen and a luxury bathroom that you’ll never want to leave. In addition to all of the amenities, Hotel Wailea offers romance packages, some including time with a licensed couples’ therapist.

With one of the best adults-only pools in Hawai‘i (location scouts for HBO’s “White Lotus” agree), Four Seasons Resort Maui is a dream destination for honeymooners. The pool includes a swim-up bar, music piped in from underwater speakers and stunning views stretching out over the infinity edge of the pool. Guests can find excellent dining options including Spago, Ferraro’s Bar e Ristorante and the occasional pop-up event. The Lobby Lounge is the place to be in the evenings with craft cocktails and live music in addition to a torch lighting ceremony. This is the place to indulge in wellness experiences, including a massage in an oceanside hale (hut) or a revitalization treatment from Next|Health. Then again, with some of the best beds you can find anywhere, it might be hard just to get outside of your room.

While Wailea represents modern tastes, the Ka‘anapali and Kapalua area appeals to those with more classic tastes. It’s also a great option for honeymooners who want to connect more with nature while they connect with each other through Ritz-Carlton’s natural, cultural and archaeological experiences. The secluded nature of the property, set on 54 acres with views of Moloka‘i and Lāna‘i, gives the feeling of being worlds away from everyone else, while also being close to beautiful beaches, horseback riding adventures and casual nightlife in Lahaina. Most notable is the King’s Pond, a saltwater aquarium and swimming pool where guests can swim with more than 1,000 fish as well as a spotted eagle ray named Kainalu. The pool has accompanying programming with marine biologists and naturalists for those who want to dive a little deeper into that world. Four Seasons Hualālai also recently introduced an experience perfect for a Hawai‘i honeymoon—the Moonlight Massage Spa Experience treats guests after hours and they can receive a variety of services with the added benefit of moon bathing.

Lāna‘i

If you and your new spouse want to feel like you’re on a private island, Lāna‘i is definitely the place to be. This tiny island has a population of just over 3,000 people, so you won’t have to worry about crowded beaches, especially at pristine locations like Hulopoe Bay. And at Sensei Lānaʻi, A Four Seasons Resort, couples can enjoy sunset sails, horseback rides, four-wheeling adventures and other experiences, plus fine dining at Nobu and One Forty Steak & Seafood.One of the great things about this hotel, in addition to a gorgeous, tropical-inspired property with luxurious rooms is the unique activities and programming that guests can enjoy. Though there aren’t too many families visiting this high-end resort, there’s also an adults-only pool to escape to for serene privacy.
